Well, one of the major upgrades of the Xiaomi Band 5 would be the AMOLED display, which has now grown to 1.1 from 0.95 though that’s not much of a difference, now the screen has smaller bezels & larger area to show more information. resolution of 126 x 294 & has a 2.5D tempered glass to protect from scratches.
As expected users can customize it with tons of watch faces, official or third-party ones. Moreover, users can also add animated watch faces too.
Just like the Mi Band 4, it has all the sensor, like the heart rate sensor, accelerometer, barometer & gyroscope though it does not have the SP02 which was rumoured to be! There are 11 professional modes – Outdoor running, Treadmill, Cycling, Walking, Freestyle, Pool swimming, Elliptical, Rowing machine, Jump rope, Indoor cycling & Yoga. Besides the new sports modes, Xiaomi Mi band 5 gets the improved processor for faster & more improved tracking.
The heart rate sensor has also been improved & it can now detect the irregularities just like we saw in the Apple Watch & also the sleep monitoring has been improved with the continuous heart rate tracking as you snooze, the company says it will help identify sleep problems such as irregular sleep & Rapid eye movement. The band works as a shutter button for camera & can withstand in 50m of water.
The fitness tracker gets a PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) score which will give you a score between 1-100 depending on your activity on that day & heart rate. Moreover, female users will also be able to track their menstrual cycle.
This is one of the major design changes that Xiaomi Mi Band 5 brings with it, as you already know, for every traditional Mi Band users have to take out the pill-shaped band from the silicon strap in order to charge it. Now there are two magnets on the bottom of the fitness tracker to which the charging dock automatically hits!. The band has 100mAh battery which can last upto 14 days on a single charge, says the company.
The wearable device also has support NFC & Voice Assistant for the Chinese variant. However, it’s unclear these features will make their way to the Global version or not so we’ll have to wait for the Global launch which by the way is next month.
