After numerous teasers & leaks, Samsung has finally launched its much-awaited S20 series of flagships at a Galaxy Unpacked event in Sans Fransisco, USA. Samsung brings a complete overhaul to its S20 series with its new design & powerful specifications compared to last year’s S10 series.
There are three smartphones in the S20 lineup, i.e. Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus & Galaxy S20 Ultra, unlike last year we do not get the S20e instead we get the S20 Ultra the most advance & expensive yet!
Samsung S20 Design & Specifications
All the three flagships carry the identical designs with little changes, at the front, all the three have an Infinity O display, a centred punch-hole for the selfie camera, S10 series had in the right corner. There are curves on both sides of the display but the curve isn’t steep as earlier Samsung flagships so the display appears almost flat. There’s minimal chin at the bottom.
The usual power button, volume rockers are on the right, there’s nothing on the left side, Type C port, speaker grill at the bottom & ofcourse there’s no 3.5mm audio jack since Samsung ditched it with the Galaxy Note 10.
On the rear, there’s a rectangular camera module on the top left which houses the triple camera setup with LED Flash, Samsung logo at the bottom.
On the Specifications, Samsung Galaxy S20 has a 6.2inch WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display (3200 x 1440) pixels with 120Hz refresh rate, this is the first time Samsung is going with a high-refresh-rate display and straight away going to 120Hz, not the usual 90Hz, which is a good thing.
Which processor will power this flagship depends on your region so it’ll be Samsung’s own Exynos 990 for mainly any other region & Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 for the U.S. There is 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM & 128GB internal storage with support for USF 3.0 storage. Furthermore, there’s a MicroSD card slot via which you can expand storage upto 1TB. Runs on OneUI 2.1 based on Android 10. The handset comes in three colour options: Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue & Cloud Pink.
Now on to the optics, This time Samsung has gone all in terms of cameras, be it with the specs or features, anyways, there’s a triple rear camera setup on the back in which there’s a 12MP primary sensor, a secondary 64MP telephoto lens with 3X Optical Zoom plus 20X Digital Zoom and lastly a third 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, there’s a 10MP selfie camera.
Now it may seem like Samsung is the same 12MP primary sensor on the S20 as previous flagships but it’s not why? this time Samsung is using a newer sensor which has 1.8 micron-pixel-size. Apart from this, if you’re into videos the 64MP telephoto lens can shoot 8K videos@30fps. The 10MP front camera can also shoot 4K videos@60fps.
Samsung Galaxy S20 has a 400mAh battery & the phone comes with 25W fast charger in the box, there’s also wireless charging support. It is IP68 certified and the phone is available in LTE & 5G variants, though in India it will come with LTE only, so this is something you should know.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus: Design & Specifications
As we mentioned above, Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is exactly the same as far as design goes expect it is much bigger & has an additional camera sensor at the back. It has the same Infinity-O display, under-display fingerprint sensor, minimal chin, power button, volume rockers are on the right, Type-C port at the bottom & same rear camera module, so now let us look at the specification.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus features a 6.7-inch WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate, so the display is much bigger compared to S20 anyway as for SOC it’ll be Exynos 990 for mainly any other region & Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 for the U.S. Same 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM & 128GB with USF 3.0 storage. Furthermore, expandable via MicroSD card upto 1TB. Runs on OneUI 2.1 based on Android 10. The device comes in three colour options: Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue & Cosmic Black.
As for the cameras, the smartphone has the same triple camera setup as well expect there’s an additional camera lens. so there’s a primary 12MP camera, a secondary 64MP telephoto lens, a third 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and now onto the additional camera lens which is a Time of Flight sensor.
The S20 Plus has a bigger 4500mAh battery, which is 500mAh bigger than the S20. Anyway, you get the same 25W charger in the box, IP68 certified.

Samsung Galaxy S20 shares the same design language as the S20 & S20 Plus and if you been finding difficult to recognise S20 & S20 Plus, don’t worry that won’t be the problem with the S20 Ultra as it has a display which is bigger than the S20 Plus & has four cameras at the back with the huge bump.
Samsung Galaxy Ultra has a massive 6.9-inch WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O display with 120Hz refresh rate. this is the biggest display ever on any Samsung flagship. The phone almost 7 inches so it’s like a tablet in hand and not only it is big but also it is heavy as well, weighing around 221gm.

Runs on OneUI 2.1 based on Android 10. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes in two colour options: Cosmic Grey, Cosmic Black.
Well, Samsung has hyped the cameras of S20 Ultra a lot & marketing at as the USP of the device, anyway, the camera config on the S20 Ultra speaks for itself. So it has a quad-camera setup at the back consisting of a primary 108MP sensor, now you’d say it is same 108MP sensor that Mi Note 10 from Xiaomi. Well for the namesake, yes but it has been further improved by Samsung, the camera can shoot 8K videos @30fps. The secondary camera which is a 48MP periscope lens & 10X Optical Zoom + 100 Digital Zoom, this is the highest Zoom in any of the flagship smartphones till now. The third camera is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle and finally the fourth is Time of Flight camera.
On the front, there’s a 40MP selfie camera compared to just 10MP on S20 & s20 Plus & the front camera can shoot 4K videos @60fps.
