Xiaomi today expanded its Redmi Note 7 series lineup with the launch of a new Note smartphone, The Redmi Note 7S, after teasing it for a week. The Redmi Note 7S falls between the Redmi Note 7 & Redmi Note 7 Pro in terms of pricing or specifications. As we mentioned before that the Redmi Note 7S is not a new device altogether, this is Global variant of Redmi Note 7, Re-branded as Redmi Note 7s, with the 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor.
So there’s no change in terms of design from the Redmi Note 7, it carries the same aura design philosophy, with the dot notch up front, Gorilla glass 5 on the front & back, gradient finish on the back panel, a vertical dual rear camera setup, fingerprint sensor at the back, Type-C port at the bottom, 3.5mm audio jack & infrared sensor on the top.
There’s only one change in between the Regular Redmi Note 7 & Redmi Note 7S that is the camera module as the regular Redmi Note 7 which launched in February came with 12MP+2MP setup, whereas the Redmi Note 7S uses the 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor.
Although the Samsung GM1 sensor takes pictures in 12MP and then interpolates them into a 48MP photo so it is not the true 48MP sensor with the Sony IMX 586 present on the Note 7 Pro, still it can take better pictures than the Redmi Note 7 12MP camera.
Rest all the specifications remain same as the Note 7, it has 6.3inch FullHD+ IPS LCD Dot notch display (2340×1080) resolution, orning Gorilla glass 5 for protection, 81.37 screen to body ratio, P2i coating on the back, making it splash proof. For performance, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz with Adreno 512 GPU for graphics. Redmi Note 7S comes in two RAM & Storage variants – 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB storage variants, memory can be expanded via a microSD card upto 256GB, it has a hybrid SIM slot instead of the triple SIM slot. Runs on MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie.
Optics, it has a dual rear camera setup of which the primary 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor with f/1.79 aperture along with a secondary 5MP sensor for depth sensing, on to the front, it has a 13MP camera on the dot notch & f/2.2 aperture for shooting selfies. Other features of the camera include – PDAF, HRD, Portrait mode, EIS etc.
Redmi Note 7S comes with the standard 4000mAh battery with support for Quick CHARGE 4.0, it comes in three colour options – Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black, Ruby Red.
The 3GB/32GB variant of the Redmi Note 7S is priced at RS. 10,999 while the 4GB/64GB variant is priced at RS. 12,999, the first sale is on the 23rd May on Flipkart, Mi.com Mi home & Mi prefered partners.
