Redmi K20 & K20 Pro to launch in India in 6 weeks (Mid-July)



Redmi; a sub-brand by Xiaomi launched The Redmi K20/Pro series last week in China. The brand has been teasing the phones for the last few days. The devices will go head to head with the OnePlus 7/Pro; Manu (Xiaomi India Head & Global VP) described the K20/Pro as flagship killer V2.0.

Mannu via twitter had announced that the Redmi K20/Pro will be launched in India soon. Now has confirmed that the devices will be launched within 6 weeks i.e launch somewhere around Mid-July. Manu didn’t mention anything more or the price. However, we’re expecting the device to be priced competitively as what they did with Poco F1. there’s no clarity when will POCO F2 launch but one is clear that Redmi K20/Pro will not be the re-branded POCO F2 or F2 Pro as the rumours & leaks indicated.

In China the Redmi K20 is priced at (6GB + 64GB) 1999 Yuan ($289) & (6GB + 128GB) at 2099 Yuan ($304).Redmi K20Pro is priced at (6GB + 64GB) 2499 Yuan ($362), (6GB + 128GB) at 2599 Yuan ($376), (8GB + 128GB) at 2799 Yuan ($405) & (8GB + 256GB) at 2999 Yuan ($434).

Redmi K20/Pro Specifications

The device sports a 6.39 inch FHD+ AMOLED display which packs an in-display fingerprint scanner. The display is bezel-less with minimal bottom chin & it has a pop-up front camera. It has an aspect ratio of 19:5:9 and has a screen to body ratio of 91.4%. The K20 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 whereas K20 Pro has Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. This is the biggest difference between the two devices. The K20 comes in only two variants i.e 6GB RAM and 64/128GB storage, while K20 Pro comes in four variants i.e 6/8GB RAM and 64/128/256GB storage.

Talking about optics, both the device have triple rear camera setup at the back, but the K20 has 48MP Sony IMX 582 (which is a rebranded IMX 586 w/o 4K at 60fps support) whereas K20 Pro has 48MP with f/1.7 aperture Sony IMX 586 primary sensor coupled with 13MP with f/2.4 aperture ultra-wide sensor and an 8MP with an f/2.4 aperture telephoto lens. It supports PDAF, 2x optical zoom, 2K video recording at 60 fps, HDR, 960fps Super Slow-mo and so on. To the front, both K20/K20 Pro has a 20MP pop-up selfie camera with f/2.0 the pop-up camera has an anti-fall mechanism plus the camera is scratch & water resistant.

Both the devices are packed by 4000 mAh battery which charges via Type- C. The K20 Pro supports 27W fast charging while K20 supports only 18W fast charging tech. Both the devices run on Android Pie out of the box on top of Miui 10. Surprisingly both the devices still retain the 3.5mm headphone jack! It has some other features like Dual Band GPS, NFC & Splash resistance. Both the devices are available in Flame Red and Glacier Blue colours.
