After all the teasers & leaks, Realme has finally unveiled its Much-anticipated Realme 5 series in India at an event in New Delhi. Realme 5 series has two smartphones under it i.e. Realme 5, Realme 5 Pro. In this article we’ll talk about the Realme 5 which is cheaper among the two & also the first phone to have Quad-rear cameras in this sub 10K segment, so lets jump right into it.
Realme 5 doesn’t look much different than Realme 5 Pro in terms of design, that being said the main difference comes in the form of internal specs, which makes it the toned-down version of the Pro.
As we said above the Realme 5 is not much different from the Pro, it has the same there’s a Dew-drop notch which also houses the front camera with thin bezels at the sides and a thicker chin at the bottom, as for the back, this is where the difference is, a gradient finish which has Quad rear camera setup on the top left, the fingerprint sensor is present of the centre where the fourth camera is, this time Realme has gone with all-new ‘Crystal design’ which looks good, Micro USB port is on the bottom, this is main design difference between the two siblings, 3.5mm jack on the top. Realme 5 is also made up of Polybonat, that’s basically plastic though it’s not some cheap plastic, the gradient colour, the pattern makes it feel more like a glass, more durable than glass though it is prone to scratches so better to have a case or skin on it.
As for the specs, the Realme5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, which makes it the first phone to launch in India with it. Realme 5 also comes in three RAM & Storage options – 3/32GB, 4/64GB & 4/128GB storage options, there’s triple card slot which means users can have 2 SIM’s plus a MicroSD card for storage expansion. It runs on Android 9 Pie based on ColorOS 6. It comes in two colour options – Crystal Purple, Crystal Blue.
For the cameras, as we said above Realme 5 is the first phone to have Quad-rear cameras in sub 10K segment so it has a primary 12MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, rest is the same as Realme 5 Pro, it has a secondary 8MP wide-angle lens with 119-FOV, followed by a 2MP Super-macro lens with 4cm shooting di. Ortherstance & lastly a 2MP depth sensor for portraits. On the front, it has a 13MP camera with an f./2.0 for the selfies, as for videos it can shoot upto 4K at 30fps, slow-mo at 240fps, EIS supported for Videos as well.
There’s a 5000mAh battery, which is the biggest till now for any Realme devices, which charges via Micro-USB, though we expected both the models to have Type-C but then as Realme had said it will price it under 10k so they had to cut cost, there’s no support for VOOC 3.0 instead it supports normal 10W charger.
