Today at an event in New Delhi, Realme introduced the Realme 3, which is the successor of its last year budget phone – Realme 2. The device directly competes with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Asus Zenfone Max M2.
Realme 3 takes its design clues from the U1 but with noticeable differences, it has a glossy plastic all around with gradient colour finish (which is first for Realme devices). Waterdrop notch at the front although the bottom chin of Realme 3 is surprisingly bigger than the U1, we don’t know why! At the back, it has a vertical dual camera setup in which the main lens has a gold rim around it which gives it a distinctive look, just below it has a rear fingerprint scanner and aligning the camera setup is the Realme branding at the bottom.
Coming to the specification – The Realme 3 has a 6.22-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and Corning Gorilla 5 for the protection. Under the hood it has a Mediatek Helio P70 processor which powers efficiency and performance, it comes in two variants – 3GB RAM/32GB, 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage which is expandable via a dedicated MicroSD Card. On the software front, it runs on Color OS 6 on top of Android 9 Pie.
Realme with the Realme 3 has revamped it’s Color OS, Color OS is the same OS found in Oppo phones, the revamped OS now has a new UI, app drawer, improved game space, gestures etc, that being said the Color OS 6 feels like the mixture of MIUI (Xiaomi) and Flyme OS (Meizu), at least from its first look.
Realme 3 has a vertically placed dual rear cameras, a 13MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor for the blur effect, there’s also a 13MP front camera for the selfies. Realme introduced some new features of its camera app with Nightscape (which is first for Realme devices) Chrome Boost – which basically boosts the colours, improves the dynamic range of it and also reduces the noise. AI beauty mode etc.
The smartphone has a 4230mAh battery, which can get you through a day easily and it still holds the micro USB port. Unfortunately, it does not support fast charging which the Redmi Note 7 does, it also has a 3.5mm audio jack and single speaker at the bottom.
It comes in three colours options – Dynamic Black, Radiant Blue and Classic Black. The 3/3GB variant of the handset is priced at Rs. 8,999 and goes up to Rs 10,999 for the 4/64GB variant, it will go sale from 12th March at 12 Noon on Flipkart & Realme’s website.
