POCO launched the POCOPHONE F1 in 2018, which offered flagship features like the SD 845, Liquid cooling, same camera setup as Pixel 3 at an aggressive price ($300) & disrupted the market. Now nearly after a year of absence POCO is back again with its flagship for 2020 i.e. The POCO F2 Pro & like its predecessor the flagship also offers flagship features at an aggressive price – Snapdragon 865, Liquid cooling 2.0, Pop-up selfie camera.
POCO F2 Pro: Design & Specifications.
if you don’t know, the F2 Pro is the re-branded version of the Redmi K30 Pro for the global market so there’s no change in terms of design except for the fact that it has “POCO” branding instead of “Redmi” of course.
Anyway, the device has a full-screen display upfront with no notch or punch-hole, pop-up front camera, under-screen fingerprint sensor, minimal bezels all around, minimal chin at the bottom, volume rockers on the left, power button the right, 3.5mm audio (which is a rarity in flagships now) IR blaster on top & Type-C port at the bottom.
There’s a circular camera module housing the quad rear camera, POCO branding at the bottom. There’s Corning Gorilla Glass at the front & back of the phone.
Onto the specs now, F2 Pro features a 6.67 inch AMOLED with a FullHD+ resolution & hs a screen-to-body ratio of 92.7, the display has a maximum brightness of 1200nits though the screen is only 60Hz yeah that’s a bummer though. Nonetheless, the display is HDR10+ & supports Wideline L1 for the Netflix & chill & since its an AMOLED display it has an under-screen fingerprint scanner. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection.
As for any other flagship for 2020, the chipset that powers this device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G with Adreno 650 for GPU coupled with 6/8GB RAM & 128/256GBGB with UFS 3.1 storage. Runs on MiUi 11 with POCO launcher 2.0, which has app launcher & other useful features on top of Android 10. The devices come in four colour options – Neon Blue, Phantom White, Electric Purple & Cyber Grey.
Just like the POCOPHONE F1, the F2 Pro also has Liquid cooling though it’s improved this time & the company calls it Liquid Cooling 2.0. So as per POCO, there are now 10 heat sensors in the phone for keeping the temperature low and also there’s two-layer of graphite which covers the battery & the chipset, 5G modem & the super vapour does the cooling. There’s also a Z-axis linear motor to give good haptic feedback.
As for the optics – There are Quad rear cameras at the back. that includes a 64MP primary sensor with Sony IMX 686, an 8MP ultra-wide angle, a 5MP Tele Macro lens, (which is a first for the industry) the lens lets the user go real close to the subject, interesting nonetheless. Furthermore, the primary camera can shoot upto 8K video at 24fps & 4K video at 60fps. On the front, there’s a 20MP pop-up camera for the selfies.
There is a 4700mAh battery underneath with support for 30W fast wired charging and the company claims that it can charge the device in 0-100 in just 63 minutes. There’s Bluetooth v5, WiFi 6.0 & Super WiFi.
