After months of leaks & rumour. Today, Google launched its next iteration of Pixel flagship device i.e. – Google Pixel 5 in an online event named LaunchNightIn. Alongside the Google Pixel 5, the company also unveiled New Chromecast, Nest Audio & Pixel 4A 5G & Google TV.
Well, technically Pixel 5 is a downgrade from the Pixel 4 of last year but as we know the company has shifted its focus to mid-range for all the obvious reasons. Anyway, let’s have a look at the design & specifications of the Pixel device
Google Pixel 5: Design & Specifications.
Google Pixel 5 has a similar design to that of the Pixel 4A. Yes, a hole-punch display with the cut-out on the top left of the display, Anyway, there are minimal bezels all around, little to no chin at the bottom I mean just like the iPhone 11 Pro series. Well, Pixel signature white accent power button & Volume rockers on the right, left side is clean. Type-C port & speaker grille at the bottom.
On the rear, there’s Boxy camera module at the top left which houses the Dual rear camera with the LED Flash. Google hasn’t shifted to the Quad rear cameras bandwagon yet. Well, we know that Pixel phones have the best camera even with the fewer camera sensors. Anyway, the fingerprint is on the bac. The rear has a sandstone finish for better grip & less of a fingerprints magnet.
Google Pixel 5 specifications.
The device features a 6-inch OLED panel with FullHD+ resolution & 90Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Powering the Mid-ranger is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G which we’ve already seen in OnePlus Nord. Anyway, the handset comes in only one RAM & Storage variant i.e. 8GB/128GB. There’s no MicroSD card support for memory expansion, runs on Android 11 out of the box & comes in two colour variant -Black & Green.
The optics, the Google Pixel 5 has dual rear cameras which include a primary 12.2MP with f/1.7 aperture & a secondary 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture. on the front, it features an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Both the rear and the front camera can record videos at 4K at 60 fps. Other camera features NightSight in Portrait, Portrait Light & some video stabilization modes – Locked, Active & Cinematic Pan.
The device has a 4080mAh battery with 18W support for fast charging. Furthermore, it also supports wireless & reverse wireless charging tech and is IP68 Water & dust resistant.
Google Pixel 5: Price & Availability.
Well, before I start with the pricing & availability I just wanted to clear out a thing that Pixel 5 isn’t coming to India, which the Google confirmed back in August. However, the Pixel 4A is coming to India. Now that this is out of the way, let’s look at the price & availability.
The device is priced at $699 & will be available from 15th October in the U.S.A.Canada & Australia, UK, Germany, Japan & Ireland.
